Site is going to go live in a couple of months, so I need to get updating! Big news at the end.
Crush Depth currently sits at 111,500 words out of a (newly planned) 114,000. It’s in better shape than I had thought it was going to be but is going to need a ton of self-editing before I even get around to sharing it.
Prolegomenon (the artist formerly known as The Rigel Conspiracy, which is now the series name) is on hold with about 8 chapters left. Planning to punch through those after Crush Depth is over.
Lag Delay didn’t have much success querying, but it’s probably for the best. I had two requests (1 partial, 1 full), a couple of personalized rejections, and a bunch of form rejections. The agents who did respond, however, echoed feedback that I got from my beta readers with regards to the start of the story and the lack of stakes there. Going to rewrite the first 20-ish chapters this fall and edit the rest into a more coherent, high-stakes story.
The Europan Deception has finished its first round of beta readers and while it needs a lot of work, I’m happily surprised that the main focus of it – the plot – worked with almost all of them. The characters and some elements of the setting, however, need a lot of work. I will be editing that book in depth starting this fall and continuing into next year.
The big news, though, is that The Martian Incident has cleared the Pentagon prepublication review process and can now be published! I’ll be doing the final edits on it over the next month and a half and have set a goal of 10 October as the release date. I’ll be working hard to get my Amazon page set up, find ARC readers, and figure out the social media and advertising landscape. It’s not a perfect debut novel it was supposed to be a prequel to The Europan Deception and its previous incarnations but has since diverged, but I believe it is an outstanding novel and readers will love it.
I will start posting every Friday here, and once I get my Twitter/X set up, will be making daily Tweets there as well.
Thanks for reading and best of luck to all of you fellow authors and readers out there!
