I hope each and every one of you is having a great 2024! Lag Delay comes out at the end of the month, expect a heavy marketing push on my end between now and then.
I’m going to change the format of these blog posts a little. Planning on doing 2 posts a month, one at the beginning with my goals for reading and writing, and another at the end to see how I did. This – even though it’s on day 5 – is the former.
Writing first.
For this month, I want to get to Chapter 16 of my “secret project” science fantasy series and Chapter 9 of Crush Depth (version 2!). I also want to get “First Contact” – my recently completed short story – out on a submission to a mag and start the next short, tentatively titled “Off Axis.” We’ll see how I do – slightly worried about Crush Depth because that is taking longer to draft than I’d like. Currently on Chapter 11 of the “secret project” and Chapter 2 of Crush Depth, so we’ll see how I do at the end of the month.
For reading, I want to finish:
The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks
Tiger’s Claw by Dale Brown
The Green Ray by Jules Verne
Tom Clancy’s Weapons Grade by Don Bentley
Orconomics by J. Zachary Pike
Submarine: A Guided Tour Inside A Nuclear Warship by Tom Clancy
I feel like I should be able to get this done, not seeing any huge issues with my reading time. The stretch goal is to review each and every one of them – that is much more challenging, but I really want to get more reviews out there, especially for indie books.
I also have Ryan Skeffington’s follow-up to his excellent Lost Souls to beta read.
Going to be a busy March!
