Another month in the books! Actually got a few blog posts in, but wrote a bit slower than I would have liked.
Feedback is still trickling in, and I decided to get The Saturn Anomaly out the door to my beta readers before I really dive into the feedback. Still, I don’t think there’s any huge changes to be made. I had a momentary lapse where I thought about throwing it all out but after rereading some of it I’m back on track. Just a lot of stuff at the line level. However, I think it’ll push into a very early 2026 release if I want to give it justice. My goal of having 2 books out this year (for a total of 4) is at risk.
I wanted to get to 90,000 words, ended up with 85,000. Not bad, but it does shift my timeline out a little bit to the right. I’m working on clearing up some thing from The Martian Incident and setting things up for the third book in the series, The Kuiper Dominion. I’m hoping to be done by the end of September but more likely the middle of the month. I also think it’ll need less editing than Crush Depth and it’s currently on track for a end of Q1/beginning of Q2 2026 release.
Pirate Fantasy Novel
It has a name now – Black Sails and Sorcery – and I got up to 6,000 words/3 chapters done. It is very much on the backburner though, and will remain so while the other two novels mentioned get the bulk of my attention.
Other Stuff
Not much else. It was a busy summer and the kids are back in school. However, now that my wife is done with her M.Ed., I am starting to look into Ph.D./D.Eng programs for systems engineering – my current employer is willing to pay for a large majority of it. I have two calls set up with potential advisors (at two different schools) in September, wish me luck!
