An absolute whirlwind of a month. It was fun while it lasted but I’m glad it’s over!
Crush Depth
I’ve decided to shelve the current version – you can read about that here. But I’m making a lot of progress on the next iteration – read about my progress here (where I do a quick postmortem on what went wrong) and here (where I develop a 3-act outline). I’m working on the chapter-by-chapter outline and associated blog post as we speak and then I’ll start writing – the third draft will be my next project! I think it’ll go fast though, and I’m aiming for it to be a bit shorter than the last one.
It’s at the Pentagon – hoping to get it out in December or January! I love how it’s turned out and am just making tiny edits here or there; no huge changes unless the DOD Prepublication Review process tells me to.
Other Projects
I’ve been outlining The Gliese Vendetta – the third book in my Dark Galaxy series that starts with The Europan Deception. I’ve also been poking away a bit at some future projects – Memento Vivere, Black Sails and Sorcery, Journey, and The Apophis Contingency. But I need to get Crush Depth done before I really jump into any of those. It’s a matter of pride at this point; regardless of the commercial success or failure of that novel I need to get it done and off my plate before I start another one.
Here’s to a great autumn!
