Early February Update

Not much to update on. January was a whirlwind – I have no idea where all of the time went!

My Skillbridge (really, an extended job interview) and outprocessing from the military have taken up most of my time. I haven’t been able to do as much social media or other advertising for The Martian Incident as I would have liked, and my sales kind of fell off a cliff in January. Mostly bad timing on my part.

Lag Delay is in its final edits and will be ready by the end of March. I’m very excited for its release, it’s very to-market (unlike The Martian Incident) and it’s my favorite book that I’ve written of my 5 completed novels/7 abandoned novels. Hopefully by April I’ll have some more free time and will be able to do more promotion-type stuff. More to follow on that later this month.

My other writing has kind of taken a back seat, unfortunately. I’m in the middle of a short story that I just can’t find time to write, The Europan Deception is slogging forward but nowhere near at the pace that I want it to, and Crush Depth – while I have found the solution to the problem – I’ve barely scratched the surface on my second draft (no pun intended). I think it’ll get better once I get my next career steps settled and Lag Delay is out to the world, but it’s a bit of a slump. However, I am going to get a book done this year and to the Pentagon so that I can publish it next year. I thought it’d be The Europan Deception, but it could be Crush Depth, or even the sci-fantasy – think The Book of the New Sun meets Elden Ring – that I’ve been writing by hand in my notebook a few words at a time. Need to do some soul-searching and pick out a project so that I can have a novel ready to release next year.

Hope you’re all having a great 2024 so far!
